We were treated to a masterclass in turning from Reg Sherwin and all envied his miniature egg. One of his suggestions was that we make sympathetic cuts on the wood to achieve best results.
A tip for tool grinding was to get the shape of the tip by sharpening and then hone to sharpen – worth trying out at home to see the effect.
Reg’s comment that “there is no such thing as a bad piece of wood” provoked many responses from the audience – some even printable. Supporting the demonstration was his usual array of guide cards and a wide selection of his work
