Events
We will be taking part in various events throughout the summer. Two which have been confirmed are the Ashtead Village Day on Saturday 9th June, organised by Trevor Etherington, and the Belmont Village Day in aid of the Royal Marsden on Sunday 15th July, organised by Brian Ash. There is also The Grange on 14th July, organised by Tony Bryan. All excellent events in the past which are very popular.
We have also been approached by Edenbridge School and the Cheam Charter Fair.
There will be another opportunity to put your name down for any of these events at the March meeting.
Trip to South East Woodworking Show
For those taking the coach to Detling, it will be leaving from Elmcroft Hall, Cheam at 9.00am prompt.
AGM 2012
At the AGM, held on 18th January, it was announced that Greg Moreton was stepping down as Chairman and is replaced by Jeff Cordery. The only other change to the committee was Geoff Knights, joining to replace Jeff in charge of the raffle.
Frank Clarke Competition 2011
The winners of the 3 categories in the Frank Clarke competition (bowls - plain, decorated and natural edge) were:
Bernard Sinclair, Beginners - Plain Bowl
Derek Monkhouse, Intermediate
- Decorated bowl
Richard Hoodless, Advanced - Natural edge bowl
Congratulations to all 3 winners - Derek won the Beginners Prize last year so will be entering the Advanced next year and Richard has kindly given Derek (and everyone else) a chance of winning the Advanced category by announcing he will no longer be entering the competition, having won 7 times since 2004!
